After decades of secrecy, Apple is spilling some good info about who makes components for them. Some of the companies named for the majority of what is designed for Apple: Intel Corp., Broadcom Corp., Amphenol Corp. and Sanyo Electric Co. Why so much interest or not important for you? Before we go there, what's Apple really told the world - probably not enough detailed information online.
What's OEM?
OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer. When it comes to the repair of your ipad, that would be the organization that made the glass (for example) for the ipad in the first place.
Simply because Apple named certain names, the sport still remains.
China has a population four times the united states. As you can imagine, you will find manufacturers everywhere for the reason that population. Intel Corporation (for example) may be one of Apple's suppliers, however the bigger question is, who are Intel's subcontractors in China? Maybe it's a very long list.
Additionally: China is known for making good copies and bad copies of nearly everything. In other words, if you hold an upgraded glass for that ipad inside your hand, and it has the Apple logo onto it, you've got no way on this earth of knowing if it is OEM or otherwise. All you CAN know is - will it fit properly and work correctly?
Could it be vital that you use OEM parts?
You may have seen the insurer ads. Usually, it's an ad by an insurer suggesting they are being used because they insist your vehicle be repaired only using OEM and never "after market" parts. They may demonstrate an automobile repaired with a poorly made after market fender, and the same model repaired using the correctly fitting OEM fender. So why do they do this?
The insurance company wants you to think that they have superior standards, and therefore it is worth paying their superior premiums.
What else could you do if you cannot tell if a component is OEM?
For those who have your Apple device repaired by Apple, the parts will be OEM. For those who have your Apple device repaired by an independent Apple device repair shop, they won't determine if what the parts they will use are OEM. They may boast of being OEM. They might believe they're OEM, but there is no way on their behalf or else you to know without a doubt.
This is what to do:
As with anything, you will find good, great and so-so iPhone, ipad and iPod repair shops. The great independent shops use parts which fit well and work well. Those same shops offer a real warranty that covers materials.
Your job is to inform them (before they focus on your ipad) that you simply expect a part which fits perfectly, and operates perfectly Up towards the standard from the original.
WARNING:
Take a few minutes while deciding where you can have your iPhone, ipad or iPod fixed, to go to the review websites, and see if you're able to check out the repair center you're thinking of using.
